Projects, Improvements and Ideas We Like
Around the S/V CYAN

Idea #1: Especially on a wide boat like an Island Packet!

If you have ever seen someone's head that has been bashed after being thrown across a boat by a sudden wave
then you can imagine how important it is to protect yourself onboard. We have found this idea to be the best for us.
For safety reasons, we use a 2" webbing strap the length of the main saloon to save us in "surprising" sea conditions.
We use it on all sea voyages. The tow strap cost under $20 from Walmart in the auto section. It is attached to a
U bolt on the aft wall near the companionway steps and stored rolled up on top of the folded table when not in use.
It is also useful to dry foul weather gear and towels and as a hand rail for folks too short for the ceiling handholds.

Other Ideas and improvements we have made along the way

Some of these ideas are really simple and some are really invaluable and worth sharing
you decide...many will be understood by other Island Packet owners.
